Enhancement includes ransomware protection with Intel® Threat Detection Technology

ESET, a global leader in cybersecurity, today announced a refresh of its award-winning consumer products, including ESET NOD32, ESET Internet Security, ESET Smart Security Premium and ESET Mobile Security. The new features improve user experience, enhance privacy and bolster malware, router and banking and payment protections.

New today, the consumer product suite is enhanced by Intel® Threat Detection Technology, Intel’s hardware-based ransomware detection technology found on Intel® Core™ processors to further boost ransomware protection. This expands on ESET’s work with Intel to bring superior ransomware protection to ESET’s business products.

“A single layer of defense is not enough in today’s constantly evolving threat landscape, which is why we continue to develop new layers of proprietary technology that help our customers defend against both known and never-before-seen threats,” said Brent McCarty, president of ESET North America. “The refresh of our consumer offering supports tech-savvy and tech-novice consumers alike with a better user experience and features that give them more control over their security solutions. The update also provides better banking, shopping and crypto wallet protections; ransomware security; and mobile phone features that defend against new SMS phishing (smishing) concerns.”

The consumer updates were designed to provide peace of mind and ensure that ESET users are protected 24/7, with new customized, granular controls for more experienced users. The company also redesigned its user interface and introduced a dark mode setting, which is popular with gamers.

Network Inspector: The latest Deloitte Connectivity & Mobile Trends survey revealed the continued acceleration of connectivity in society and the further blurring of the lines between consumers’ physical lives and the digital world. The latest update of ESET’s consumer product portfolio brings improvements to Network Inspector, a diagnostic tool that provides information about the home router and lists all the devices connected to it. These UX improvements enhance security by allowing the user to better categorize and classify their networks and devices.

Banking & Payment Protection: ESET has created a new “SecureAllBrowsers” mode, which is automatically turned on for all compatible browsers. This feature protects users who are banking or shopping online – protecting the browser without redirection needed. As the popularity of cryptocurrencies continues to expand, this new feature helps to automatically protect crypto wallets when accessing hot (web-based) wallets.

ESET Mobile Security: With the updated version of the Android product that will be released shortly, consumers can benefit from a fresh redesign of the main dashboard along with newly added functionalities that enhance privacy. The product also includes new anti-smishing tools that scan incoming SMS messages and notifications to protect users from malicious software that can hold mobile devices and data hostage. When threats arise, an alert warns the user about malicious links after delivery before opening the website itself.

Brute Force Protection: As brute force attacks have proliferated, Brute Force Attack Protection has been added to the application settings. A brute-force attack is a method of discovering a targeted password by systematically trying all combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols.

ESET Home: The management platform ESET HOME now allows even better protection by offering two-factor authentication to log in to the account and by adding visibility into overall protection status to the home screen.
